Why is it called SMS SQUARE ? Originally SMS server is used as marketing tools, though today's usage is really varay from taking sales, securitiy, CRM, etc. Thus back then SMS Marketing System sounds really representative. SMS Marketing System is abbreviated as SMS MS => S(MS)2 => SMS SQUARE

How much is the cost for sending SMS ? Well if you choose GSM Modem as the send/receive channel it depends on your which GSM SIM Card Operator you subscribed. Furthermore for gateway channel, it depends on your bulk SMS purchase (link here)

What is SMS SQUARE blast SMS SQUARE blast is a service to send bulk SMS via our website http://blast.smssquare.net it's not a software. You need to buy SMS token first and register for the sender-ID masking, also the credit token can be used by SMS SQUARE servers with gateway channel option when sending SMS.

2 Does SMS SQUARE support CDMA modem ? Unfortunatelly we aren't supporting CDMA modem, at least for the time being. Why ? according to experience GSM's operator messaging services is still way better than CDMA's (at least this what we perceive with Indonesia's cellular condition).
3 Can I send flash SMS ? no, currently we don't support flash SMS
4 Can SMS SQUARE send MMS ? no, since SMS SQURE is targetted for Marketing System and communications with pure text. But it's we might be considering it in the future
5 What is the difference between Ez, Lite, Devotion, and Enterprise ? In term of features there is no difference. The only difference is in the capacity. Please look at here
6 What is SMS SQUARE Enterprise DB Connect ? Enterprise DB Connect is an enhanced version of Enterprise. The platfrom is has built-in most industrial database standard driver such as Oracle, MS SQL server, Sybase, PostgreSQL, and MySQL. We'll also give you a middleware template to connect SMS SQUARE with your company's backend database server.

1 How SMS SQUARE works ? Like any other SMS gateway server, SMS SQUARE require GSM Modem to send/receive SMS (modem channel), additionally for sender-ID masking (send SMS only) a gateway connection is required (gateway channel).
2 Why can't I send or receive SMS ? There might be several reasons for this symptoms. 1. Please make sure the modem is well connected and follow instruction from http://docs.smssquare.net/channel/modem.html#start-daemon, 2. Also make sure to remove any PIN password from the GSM SIM Card, 3. verify your balance and validity period is enough, 4. Check your signal quality
3 Do I need to shutdown SMS SQUARE daily not necessarily, depends on your need you may have it run as long as you need. Please remember the environment might also be the factor, if SMS SQUARE server is not in somekind of server room environment it may lead to hardware overheat.

2 What modems are compatible with SMS SQUARE SMS SQUARE work best with the following USB GSM modems: iTegno 3000/3800, Baiyi-181T, and Wavecomm Super Fastrack.
3 I already have GSM-Modem, do SMS SQUARE support mine ? Since SMS SQUARE utilize Gnokii as it's interface to modem, you can check wheter your modem is supported by gnokii here http://gnokii.org/docs.shtml. But you need to edit the configuration files first and also may lose the plug and play feature if you use other than our recommendation modems.
4 What linux distribution SMS SQUARE use ? Current SMS SQUARE Platinum uses CentOS 4.8 DVD
5 Why CentOS ? We are bundling SMS SQUARE with CentOS, yet we are not limiting customers if they are able to port to other Linux distro, but we acknowledge CentOS as one of the finest Linux distribution based on RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux). Which is targeted for enterprise with LTS (Long Term Service) lifetime makes it more stable compared to non-enterprise market.
6 Can SMS SQUARE run under Windows Unfortunatelly no, but you could use virtualization if needed. We recommend Vmware or VirtualBox for this task.
7 Can SMS SQUARE run under different Linux distro ? SMS SQUARE has been tested well on other Linux beside CentOS such as Fedore Core 4/5, Red Hat Linux 9, Open SUSE 10, and RHEL 4.0. But SMS SQUARE has already bundled with CentOS to make installation and configuration lot easier.
8 What technologies used by SMS SQUARE ? We stack up Apache HTTPD, MySQL 5.1, PHP 5.2, g++, C-kermit, bash, wrapped in CentOS 4.7 to build a complete SMS SQUARE system
9 I see SMS SQUARE uses Apache, MySQL, and PHP outside the Linux distribution, why not using AMP from CentOS ? Sometimes there might be compatibility issues and version issues with the built-in AMP. We try to keep SMS SQUARE as flexible as it can be.
10 Can I install other CentOS built-in package softwares and other software in SMS SQUARE ? sure you can, but you need to follow the installation process as stated in http://docs.smssquare.net/install/index.html. Then you may install whatever software you might need, as long as the software doesn't inflict to the AMP from SMS SQUARE
11 What is the minimum hardware requirement for SMS SQUARE Besides the GSM modem, the minimum hardware requirement is Intel Pentium III 800, with 256 MB RAM, and 6 GB free space in HDD
12 You mentioned free space, does it mean I can install SMS SQUARE in HDD with already has partition in it ? You may install SMS SQUARE in to HDD with existing partiion in it, but please be carefull you must really know how to do Linux especiall CentOS installation manually, otherwise you might lose your valuable data.
13 What is the average installation time for SMS SQUARE It depends on your system, just for comparison with Intel P4 3.0 GHz HT and 1 GB RAM the CentOS installation takes around 15-20 minutes, the SMS SQUARE deployment process takes around 20-25 minutes. Total would be 35-45 minutes.
